Acknowledge that your body and mind will feel different everyday. Listen to what your body tells you and practice in your own time following your own breath.
MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO ARRIVE EARLY
Getting to class about ten minutes early can help you get signed in, settled in, and align your attitude with the purpose of class. While waiting, you can practice a pose, do a few stretches, or lie quietly, breathe, and get centered.
WEAR WHATEVER YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE IN
It's your practice! That being said, don't hide under big baggy clothing. It can cause distress during inversions. Plus, tighter fitting clothing helps the teacher see true alignment.
TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF BEFORE
ENTERING THE STUDIO
One of the five Yamas in yoga is Saucha, which means cleanliness. To maintain cleanliness in the studio, we ask that you remove your socks and shoes prior to entering. We have cubby's in the lobby for your shoes.
BRING A YOGA MAT
Don't have one yet? No problem, we have some really flippin' cute ones for sale at the studio. They are top quality and we love them! We have mats that are for use at the studio however a very limited amount so it will be on a first come first serve basis. We encourage you to bring a mat if at all possible.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
This one is important. We want you to stay hydrated. If you forget your water, don't stress! We have a water bottles for sale in the front lobby.
PLEASE TURN CELL PHONES TO SILENT
There is nothing more embarrassing and distracting than your "baby got back" ringtone sounding off! We are only kidding. But no really, you'll thank us later. Just turn the phone off and leave it in the lobby so it is not a distraction during class.
REMEMBER, IT'S YOUR PRACTICE
One great advantage of practicing yoga is you get to decide how hard you want to work in the class. You determine what you get out of it. Listen to your body and focus on yourself.
